December Evening Program

The narrative of many book collectors begins “When I was a child, I collected stamps, and my interests expanded to…” Join the Caxton Club as we host Baasil Wilder, librarian of the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum. The museum holds one of the world’s largest and most significant collections of postal history, and its research and exhibits enrich our understanding of our national experience. Baasil will reveal some of the many treasures of the library supporting this museum and the Smithsonian’s broader mission.

Baasil is also the librarian of the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum which supports research about Washington DC communities, urban waterways, and environmental justice.

Baasil began his library career at the Smithsonian in 2010 and obtained his MSLS from the University of North Carolina School of Information and Library Science.
