The Outstanding Book on the History of Chicago Award was developed to fill a gap in Chicago’s literary and cultural life by recognizing major contributions to our understanding of the city’s rich history. In this, the inaugural year of the award, there were ten book nominations published between 2019 – 2020, reviewed by a panel of five distinguished historians. On April 7, we will bring premier cultural and educational institutions in Chicago together to celebrate Chicago and the ULCC’s continuing engagement with the city’s evolving history.

Funding for the 2021 Award was generously provided by the Luminarts Cultural Foundation and ULCC Donors.
