Speaker: Arnold Hirshon

"Alice at 150: Artistic Visions as Visual Translation"

Arnold Hirshon, Associate Provost and University Librarian at Case Western Reserve University, will use the 150th anniversary of the first publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to examine the visual expression of this classic story. In a lavishly illustrated program, “Alice at 150: Artistic Visions as Visual Translation,” he will present artists’ and illustrators’ many efforts to portray Alice’s story beyond John Tenniel’s iconic imagery.

Union League Club, 65 West Jackson Boulevard. This program will follow our new format: spirits at 5, program at 6 with dinner to follow. The program is free, dinner is $48, drinks are $5 - $9. For reservations call 312-255-3710 or email caxtonclub@newberry.org.
