The Caxton Club supports its members and the greater bibliophilic community in a variety of ways, including: Bibliophilic Programming, twice monthly except during the summer, on various subjects including Americana, art history, the book arts, the history of printing and collecting, literature, conservation and archives, with in-person and online options. Engagement with the Book Community, fostering intellectual conversation, and allowing members to share information about subjects, experts, and resources. Caxton Club members connect, formally and informally, and have opportunities to collaborate with similar groups in Chicago and around the United States. Caxtonian: Journal of the Caxton Club is published six times yearly and covers many facets of the book arts, book collecting, literary topics, and historical studies. Promotion of the Book Arts through awards, scholarships, grants, and prizes to students and other early-career book artists and scholars. Publications that continue the club’s tradition of crafting fine books on literary and bibliophilic topics. Each of the club’s publications is a testament to the power of our members and provides a high-quality contribution to the historical record. Scholarly and Professional Opportunities for members to write articles, present programs, lead editorial projects, establish liaison relationships with allied organizations, participate in club committees, and serve on juries for grants and awards. Philanthropic Engagement and the opportunity to advance the Caxton Club and other scholarly and bibliophilic organizations such as Rare Book School, the Fellowship of American Bibliophilic Societies, the Bibliographical Society of America, Honey & Wax Booksellers, and the Hamilton Wood Type & Printing Museum. Legacy Records including access to digital archives with videos of past programs, club records, and member-only web resources, such as issues of the Caxtonian since 1993. |
